"Indian and Singaporean Armed Forces Launch 14th Exercise Bold Kurukshetra in Jodhpur"

The Indian Army and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) have commenced the 14th edition of their joint military exercise, Exercise Bold Kurukshetra, at a training site in Jodhpur. This exercise, which began on July 27, marks two decades of defense collaboration between the two nations, focusing on enhancing joint operational capabilities under a United Nations framework.

A ceremonial plaque and flag exchange took place during the opening ceremony, highlighting the ongoing military partnership between India and Singapore. Senior officers, including members from the Indian Army's Bogra Brigade and the SAF contingent, participated in the event. The initial phase involved tactical discussions and a table-top simulation aimed at fostering operational synergy.

In the following days, troops will engage in complex field maneuvers, such as live fire exercises and combat coordination drills, to enhance interoperability in peacekeeping and conflict situations. The joint training emphasizes responding to multi-domain threats, conducting joint planning, and executing coordinated actions in simulated conflict environments.

Initiated in 2003, Exercise Bold Kurukshetra has become a significant component of military relations between India and Singapore. The 2017 naval logistics agreement further solidified this cooperation by allowing mutual access to each other’s bases for refueling and supplies. According to a 2022 Journal of Defense Studies report, such joint training exercises can enhance coordination in multinational operations by up to 30 percent.

This year's exercise occurs amid increasing global peacekeeping challenges. With over 80,000 troops deployed in UN missions worldwide, the emphasis on readiness and coordination by India and Singapore reflects their dedication to global peace and security.

The India-Singapore strategic partnership extends beyond joint army training, encompassing various defense collaborations, including maritime security, joint naval drills, and the development of emerging technologies. These efforts are part of a broader framework established under the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) and other bilateral strategic agreements.
