General Upendra Dwivedi Felicitates Ladakh Veterans with Distinguished Achievers Award
Ladakh, June 27, 2026: During a visit to the Indian Army's Fire and Fury Corps in Ladakh, the Chief of the Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, honoured five distinguished former soldiers with the Veteran Achievers Award. These veterans were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the welfare of ex-servicemen, healthcare delivery, community advancement, and nation-building efforts.
The award recipients included Colonel Tondup Wangail (Retired), Major Rinchen Dolma Kolto (Retired), Subedar Major and Honorary Captain Sonam Morup (Retired), Subedar Major and Honorary Captain Tashi Chhepal, Vir Chakra (Retired), and Naik Ghulam Haider (Retired).
The awards highlighted not only the veterans' illustrious military careers but also their dedication to societal service post-retirement. Through various philanthropic efforts, these awardees have significantly improved the lives of veterans, Veer Naris, military families, and residents in the remote and challenging terrains of Ladakh.
