Indian Air Force's Maintenance Command Hosts Senior Medical Officers' Conference on Advancing Military Healthcare

The Indian Air Force's Headquarters Maintenance Command hosted the Senior Medical Officers’ Conference on May 14–15, 2026. This gathering of senior medical leaders aimed to discuss critical components of military healthcare and operational medical support.

Chief Guest Air Marshal Yalla Umesh, VSM, PhD, who serves as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Maintenance Command, was in attendance. The conference also featured Air Marshal Sandeep Thareja, SM, VSM & Bar, Director General Medical Services (Air), as the Guest of Honour.

The theme of the conference was “Back to BASICS,” an acronym standing for Behaviour, Awareness, Sustenance, Innovation, Community Building, and Strategies.

Participants engaged in discussions that centred on improving patient care, bolstering mental health initiatives, fostering physical wellbeing, and striving for excellence in military healthcare systems.

The event underscored the importance of innovation, preventive healthcare, and community-focused medical practices to provide comprehensive healthcare support to serving personnel, veterans, and their families.

The conference reaffirmed the Indian Air Force's dedication to maintaining high standards of medical readiness and enhancing healthcare delivery in both operational and peace-time settings.
