Indian Air Force Plans Major Aerial Exercise in Rajasthan Near Pakistan Border from July 23

The Indian Air Force is poised to conduct a significant aerial exercise in Rajasthan, scheduled from July 23 to 25. This exercise will cover crucial border districts extending from Barmer to Jodhpur. A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued to ensure the clearance of civilian air traffic in the area during the exercise duration.
Defense officials have stated that the exercise will feature extensive air combat and night operations as part of the IAF's routine operational readiness evaluations. It is anticipated that aircraft and assets from various Air Force commands will participate.
Frontline fighter jets, including Rafale, Mirage 2000, and Sukhoi-30, will be involved in the exercise. They will be supported by air defense systems, early warning platforms, and other ground support units. The focus will be on high-speed maneuvers, coordinated air strikes, and real-time responses to aerial threats.
This large-scale readiness drill takes place amid heightened alertness along the India-Pakistan border. The Indian Air Force has been increasing surveillance and strategic deployments in reaction to evolving cross-border threats.
During Operation Sindoor in May 2025, the same region experienced multiple incursions by Pakistani drones and missiles. A total of 413 drone attacks targeted areas in Rajasthan, including Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Sri Ganganagar. All intrusions were intercepted by India's integrated air defense network, preventing any damage.
As tensions persist along the western frontier, the upcoming exercise aims to enhance preparedness, evaluate combat efficiency, and strengthen India's response capabilities in the face of potential future provocations.
