Indian Air Force May Transport NEET-UG Retest Papers to Ensure Examination Security

The Indian government is reportedly considering deploying Indian Air Force aircraft to transport question papers for the NEET-UG retest slated for June 21. This move is part of efforts to ensure a secure and reliable examination process.

Sources indicate that this proposal was discussed in a high-level meeting led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, which included Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

The focus of the meeting reportedly centered on strengthening the overall examination framework, encompassing the formulation, printing, transportation, and security of question papers. This follows allegations of malpractice and paper leaks in the previous exam.

Insiders revealed that utilizing Indian Air Force aircraft was considered to enhance security and ensure the swift movement of confidential materials across the nation.

Nevertheless, officials have clarified that a final decision has not yet been reached, and the proposal may be presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for further assessment.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) originally administered the NEET-UG exam on May 3 in 551 cities across India and 14 international centers, with approximately 23 lakh candidates participating.

After reports of paper leaks and examination malpractice, the NTA annulled the exam on May 12 and declared a nationwide retest for June 21.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is actively investigating the matter and has arrested 13 individuals from various cities, including Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram, Pune, Nashik, Latur, and Ahilyanagar.

Officials noted that special investigation teams have conducted extensive searches nationwide and identified the source of the alleged leak as part of their ongoing investigation.

The potential involvement of the Indian Air Force underscores the government's commitment to ensuring transparency, security, and integrity in one of India's largest competitive examinations.
