India and Spain Bolster Defence Relations During College of Defence Management's Strategic Visit

The Future Strategic Leaders from the College of Defence Management (CDM), Secunderabad, operating under the Integrated Defence Staff (IDS), progressed in their International Strategic Management Tour (ISMT) in Spain by visiting several key military institutions. The initiative aims to enhance academic and strategic ties, furthering India's defence diplomacy with European allies.
Visit to Spanish Defence Institutions
During their tour, the delegation stopped at the Defence Higher Education Centre (CESEDEN), Spain’s leading military education institution tasked with shaping senior defence leaders. Here, the officers engaged with top faculty members, exchanging views on strategic management, leadership growth, and the integration of services within modern military systems.

The itinerary also included visits to the Spanish Army Anti-Aircraft Artillery Command and the Spanish Air & Space Force Command. These visits provided the officers with insights into Spain’s sophisticated air defence strategies, leadership frameworks, and instructional techniques, offering a comprehensive understanding of Spain’s defence technology, airspace oversight, and modern warfare preparedness.
Strengthening Bilateral Defence Cooperation
Interactions with senior military officials from the Spanish Armed Forces underscored shared views on peacekeeping, technological integration, and operational collaboration. Both countries recognized the increasing opportunities for joint efforts in defence education, cooperative training, and strategic research.

The visit symbolized a robust testament to India–Spain Defence Diplomacy, reaffirming mutual aspirations for peace, stability, and advancement. It also highlighted India's dedication to broadening international defence alliances, contributing to shared security and leadership development.

Leadership and Strategic Engagement
The ISMT is a critical component of CDM's curriculum, aimed at expanding the strategic perspective of officers by exposing them to global defence management practices and diverse defence environments. Through these engagements, India's Future Strategic Leaders continue to deepen their comprehension of international strategic relations, equipping them to effectively contribute to the country’s evolving defence strategy.
