Inaugural NCC NER Trek-II Camp Kicks Off in Wokha, Nagaland, Celebrating Adventure and Unity

The North Eastern Region Trek-II (NER Trek-II), a prominent all-India NCC trekking camp, has begun at the 24 Assam Rifles Complex in Wokha, Nagaland, marking a significant occasion for the scenic hill district. Scheduled from November 4 to 11, 2025, the eight-day event, organized by the NCC North Eastern Region Directorate (NCC NER Dte), gathers 510 cadets from Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar & Jharkhand, Odisha, and the North Eastern Region.

This inaugural trekking event in Wokha aims to promote adventure, cultural exchange, and national integration while highlighting Nagaland’s stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage. The camp's objectives include nurturing teamwork, discipline, and self-reliance among cadets, supporting the NCC’s broader mission to develop leadership and character in young people.

Throughout the week, cadets will engage in day hikes to locations such as Mount Tiyi, Doyang Dam, and New Wokha Village, experiencing Nagaland's natural beauty while testing their physical and mental endurance. They have been organized into four trekking groups, each tackling varied terrains and experiences to foster teamwork and an adventurous spirit.

In addition to trekking, the cadets will participate in the Mini Hornbill Festival, allowing them to delve into Nagaland’s cultural traditions, music, and heritage, representing India's unity in diversity.

The camp was officially inaugurated by Brigadier Shantanu P. Mainkar, Group Commander, NCC Group Kohima. During the flag-off ceremony, he interacted with the cadets, encouraging them to embrace this rare opportunity for personal development and national unity. He praised their enthusiasm and emphasized the NCC’s crucial role in promoting youth empowerment and inter-state harmony.

The NER Trek-II Camp is a strong testament to the NCC’s dedication to adventure, discipline, and camaraderie, while fostering cultural understanding and national pride. By uniting cadets from various parts of India in Nagaland, the camp exemplifies the “Unity and Discipline” motto of the National Cadet Corps.
