Himanshu Pandey Promoted from DIG to Inspector General in CISF, Pipping Ceremony Held in New Delhi

Senior Central Industrial Security Force officer Himanshu Pandey has been promoted from Deputy Inspector General (DIG) to Inspector General (IG), with the CISF formally conferring the new rank on him in New Delhi on September 3, 2026.

The elevation places Pandey in a higher leadership tier within one of India’s key Central Armed Police Forces. A formal pipping ceremony was held to mark the occasion, during which the insignia of Inspector General was presented to him as he assumed greater responsibilities in the force.

The Director General of CISF congratulated Himanshu Pandey on his promotion and praised his leadership, professionalism and commitment to the organisation. The force leadership also extended its best wishes to the newly promoted officer for continued success in his new assignment.

As an Inspector General, Pandey will now be responsible for wider command, administrative and operational duties. At this level, CISF officers are typically tasked with overseeing major formations and sectors, while also ensuring that operational and administrative policies are implemented across the units under their control.

The promotion reflects Pandey’s progression through the senior command structure of the CISF and recognises the contribution he made during his tenure as a Deputy Inspector General.

The Central Industrial Security Force functions under the Ministry of Home Affairs and is tasked with securing critical infrastructure and strategic establishments across the country. Its responsibilities include guarding airports, ports, the Delhi Metro, government buildings, industrial installations and other vital facilities.

With this elevation, Himanshu Pandey takes on a broader leadership role as the CISF continues its work to protect key national assets and infrastructure across India.
