General Upendra Dwivedi Honors Veer Naris and Families of Posthumous Gallantry Awardees at Defence Investiture Ceremony

In a heartfelt ceremony in New Delhi following the Defence Investiture Ceremony 2026 (Phase-I), Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi and Mrs. Sunita Dwivedi, President of the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), engaged with Veer Naris and families of gallantry awardees who were posthumously recognized for their ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.

The event was a tribute to the valiant efforts, dedication, and selflessness of India's Bravehearts who gave their lives while safeguarding the country's sovereignty and security.

During the interaction, General Dwivedi personally met with the Next of Kin of the soldiers who had fallen, expressing the Indian Army's appreciation for the sacrifices of their loved ones. He presented them with the Badge of Sacrifice and a Certificate of Honour, acknowledging the remarkable courage and dedication shown by the awardees.

The Army Chief expressed his solidarity with the Veer Naris and their families, assuring them that the Indian Army is fully committed to their welfare and support.

Mrs. Sunita Dwivedi also conversed with the families, recognizing their resilience and strength and affirming the continuous support through AWWA's various welfare initiatives.

The ceremony served as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by soldiers and their families in service to the nation. It highlighted the Indian Army's unwavering commitment to honoring its martyrs and preserving the legacy of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
