General Upendra Dwivedi Evaluates Enhanced Military Training Technologies at Army's Simulator Development Division
General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff, recently paid a visit to the Simulator Development Division (SDD) to evaluate the development and integration of advanced technologies intended for Indian Army training and operational improvements. The purpose was to assess progress in state-of-the-art innovations designed to prepare soldiers for contemporary, technology-driven warfare.
During his visit, General Dwivedi received briefings on several cutting-edge technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), drones, robotics, and simulator-based training systems. These technologies are being increasingly integrated into military training programs to create realistic combat scenarios, thereby enhancing troop readiness for complex battlefield environments.
A significant aspect of the visit was the demonstration of indigenous innovations developed within the Indian Army's technical establishments. Among these was "Paricharak," a robotic system created by the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME). The robot is designed to provide operational support and marks an advancement in the integration of robotics and automation into military functions.
The initiatives presented during the visit contribute to the Indian Army's ongoing shift towards Network-Centric and Multi-Domain Operations, where the seamless integration of data, technology, and battlefield systems is vital for operational success. These developments also align with the Army's emphasis on the "Year of Networking and Data Centricity," focusing on enhanced connectivity, digital integration, and data-driven decision-making across various formations.
General Dwivedi praised the Simulator Development Division for its innovative efforts in creating technology-driven training solutions that boost the operational capacity of soldiers. During the visit, the Chief of the Army Staff also presented Commendation Cards to selected personnel in appreciation of their exceptional contributions to the advancement of training technologies and systems.
