General Dhiraj Seth Reviews Western Command’s Operational Preparedness and Combat Capability Boost

Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth visited the Headquarters of Western Command to assess the formation’s operational preparedness and review the initiatives being pursued to strengthen its combat capability amid a changing security environment.

During the visit, the Army Chief was briefed on the prevailing operational situation as well as the readiness levels of forces under Western Command. Senior officers also outlined ongoing training efforts and other measures intended to further improve combat effectiveness across the command.

General Seth reviewed Western Command’s operational posture in light of evolving security challenges and called for a consistently high state of readiness across formations and units. He stressed that forces must remain prepared to respond effectively to emerging operational contingencies, reflecting the need for vigilance and flexibility in a demanding environment.

A key focus of the visit was the need to adapt to the changing character of warfare. General Seth highlighted the importance of agility and adaptability in modern military operations, noting that rapidly advancing technologies and evolving methods of war demand continuous refinement in the way personnel and formations train, plan and operate.

He also placed particular emphasis on technological empowerment as an essential element of future combat readiness. According to the Army Chief, deeper integration of technology into training, operational planning and execution is expected to improve situational awareness, sharpen decision-making and enhance overall battlefield effectiveness.

The visit also served as a review of the Indian Army’s broader effort to build a force that is both technologically enabled and operationally ready to deal with emerging security challenges across the full spectrum of operations.

General Seth’s interaction with Western Command’s leadership and personnel reinforced the Army’s continued focus on realistic training, sustained capability enhancement and maintaining a strong operational edge through constant preparedness.
