His engineering background contributed significantly to both his written examination preparation and the technical aspects of pilot training, including the Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS).

Flight Lieutenant Shukla was commissioned into the Indian Air Force on 21 December 2019 as part of the 204 Pilot Course. He quickly distinguished himself through exceptional training performance.

During the valedictory ceremony of the 204 Pilot Course at Air Force Station Bidar in February 2021, he received the trophy for ranking first in overall merit. This accolade highlighted his flying skills, leadership potential, and consistency under challenging training conditions.

Operation Sindoor was initiated on 7 May 2025 following a terrorist attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives. The operation involved coordinated strikes by the Indian Armed Forces on nine terrorist infrastructure sites linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The strikes were meticulously planned to be precise and focused, avoiding escalation, and aimed solely at dismantling terrorist capabilities.

Flight Lieutenant Shukla’s squadron played a crucial role in these precision air-to-ground strike missions using the Mirage 2000 platform. Operating in a high-threat environment involving extensive aerial engagement, the squadron delivered precise munitions on designated targets.

The operation, involving over 100 aircraft, resulted in the Indian Air Force achieving air dominance, enabling effective long-range precision strikes. The mission objectives were accomplished within a short timeframe, leading to a ceasefire by 10 May 2025.

For his contributions during Operation Sindoor, Flight Lieutenant Shukla received a Mention-in-Despatches, an honor for gallantry or distinguished service in operational areas.

On 14 August 2025, the President of India sanctioned a total of 290 such recognitions across the armed forces. Although individual citations are not publicly disclosed, this award signifies noteworthy operational contributions under challenging and high-risk conditions.
