ECHS Polyclinic Opens in Dehradun's Clement Town to Enhance Veteran Healthcare Services

A new Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Polyclinic has been inaugurated in Clement Town, Dehradun, marking a significant advancement for veteran welfare. The facility was officially opened by Major General MPS Gill, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Uttarakhand Sub Area, and Major General Naveen Mahajan, GOC of the Golden Key Division. The event was attended by retired Lieutenant General Sanjeev Anand and other senior veterans.
This state-of-the-art polyclinic is expected to provide healthcare services to over 7,000 ex-servicemen and their families in the Dehradun area, thereby enhancing the ECHS network's coverage. Under the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, the ECHS is dedicated to ensuring that retired armed forces personnel have access to quality healthcare.

The Clement Town polyclinic is equipped with modern medical amenities, including spacious consultation rooms and diagnostic facilities, along with an efficient administrative structure. An Armed Forces Medical Services study highlighted the increasing demand for veteran healthcare, which has risen by over 30% in the past four years, underscoring the necessity for such an upgrade.

The inauguration ceremony included a ribbon-cutting event and a guided tour of the newly established facility. Military officials briefed attendees on the services available, emphasizing the unity between active duty officers and retired veterans who vowed to continue their support for the veteran community.

The opening of the polyclinic is part of the Indian Army’s broader initiative of the “Year of Defence Reforms,” which aims to modernize support systems for veterans and their dependents. Officials expressed optimism that this facility could serve as a blueprint for similar projects nationwide.
