ECHS Establishes Information Cell at Retiring Officers’ Seminar to Strengthen Veteran Healthcare Support
The Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Regional Centre-II, operating under the Delhi Area, launched an ECHS Information Cell-cum-Help Desk at the Retiring Officers’ Seminar at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi. This initiative was designed to offer comprehensive guidance on healthcare benefits, policies, and services available post-retirement to officers and veterans.
Acting as a centralized assistance hub, the help desk provided retiring officers with precise information on various beneficiary-related issues, facilitating a seamless transition from active military service to veteran healthcare support under the ECHS.
Officials at the information cell offered extensive guidance on ECHS entitlements, current policies, and operational procedures. Participants were informed about the network of empanelled hospitals and ECHS polyclinics nationwide, ensuring they are aware of the medical facilities available to them and their dependents after retirement.

A significant emphasis of the initiative was on raising awareness about the updated ECHS Mobile App, which aims to streamline access to healthcare services. Officers were introduced to the app’s capabilities, including digital services, information access, and enhanced user convenience for beneficiaries.

The help desk also stressed the necessity of the mandatory annual validation of dependents, a crucial requirement for uninterrupted healthcare benefits under the ECHS. Officials guided attendees through the validation process, addressing queries related to documentation and eligibility to prevent delays in obtaining medical services.

The seminar demonstrated the Indian Army’s ongoing dedication to the welfare of its veterans, ensuring that retiring personnel receive timely information and practical assistance before transitioning to civilian life. By addressing common concerns and streamlining administrative procedures, the initiative aimed to enhance the ECHS experience, making it more efficient and user-friendly.
Through these beneficiary-focused outreach efforts, the Delhi Area continues to bolster veteran support mechanisms and promote greater awareness of the healthcare services available to former servicemen and their families. This initiative highlights the Armed Forces' steadfast commitment to those who have served the nation, ensuring they continue to receive informed assistance and quality healthcare during their post-retirement years.
