Eastern Command's Initiative: Orientation Programme for Spouses of Young Officers

An Orientation Programme for Spouses of Young Officers was organized by the Eastern Command, highlighting the Army's commitment to supporting its families. The event saw participation from 25 military stations across the region.

Mrs. Ashima Malhotra, the Regional Vice President of the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) for the Eastern Command, presided over the event. The programme offered participants a detailed insight into AWWA’s mission, the welfare schemes available, and opportunities for developing self-reliance.

The orientation covered significant topics such as digital engagement, awareness of social media, proper etiquette and protocols, and a deep dive into the regimental ethos and traditions. These sessions aimed to empower spouses with the necessary knowledge and confidence to manage military life efficiently and enhance the welfare framework.

The programme emphasized the crucial role Army wives play in reinforcing family support networks, building community solidarity, and preserving the long-standing values and customs of the Indian Army.
