Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Shri Praveer Ranjan visited CISF Unit VSP Visakhapatnam and CISF Unit VPA Visakhapatnam to review security preparedness, training standards and welfare-related initiatives at two key installations in the city.

The visit was undertaken with a senior CISF delegation that included Smt Binita Thakur, ADG/APS, Shri S R Saravanan, IG/APS-II, Shri S S Mishra, IG/South Sector, Shri M G Raghvendra Kumar, DIG/APSZ, Shri Santosh Singh, DIG/SZ-II and Shri Sudhir Kumar, DIG/Principal Staff Officer to DG/CISF.

At CISF Unit VSP, Shri Praveer Ranjan was presented a Guard of Honour before beginning his review of the security setup at the industrial site. He also met the Chairman and Managing Director of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited and visited the steel plant to understand the security arrangements and operational requirements of the vital installation.

As part of the programme, the CISF chief joined a plantation drive, underlining the Force’s focus on environmental responsibility alongside its core security mandate.

His review then shifted to CISF Unit VPA Visakhapatnam, where he inspected the Port Security Course training and surveyed important areas of the port to assess the existing security preparedness and operational arrangements. The inspection formed part of a broader exercise to evaluate readiness at a critical maritime installation.

During the port visit, Shri Praveer Ranjan interacted with the Visakhapatnam Port Authority management, senior CISF officers, the Port Facility Security Assessment team and unit commanders stationed in Visakhapatnam. The discussions centred on improving coordination and ensuring effective protection of critical port infrastructure.

He also addressed a joint Sainik Sammelan of CISF units deployed in Visakhapatnam. In his remarks, he stressed the need for professional conduct, discipline and a strong sense of responsibility while carrying out security duties at strategic national installations.

The DG CISF also called for continuous skill development and technology upgradation so that personnel remain ready for evolving security challenges. He highlighted the need for functional realignment to improve operational effectiveness and make better use of available resources.

Women personnel in the Force were another key focus of his interaction. Shri Praveer Ranjan emphasised their growing role and contribution within the CISF and encouraged the organisation to continue creating opportunities for women to take on greater responsibilities in both operational and organisational roles.

Personnel welfare was also discussed in detail. The DG sensitised personnel to the harmful effects of alcoholism, financial distress and unhealthy lifestyles, and urged them to maintain physical and mental well-being while following responsible personal and professional practices.

The visit reflected the CISF leadership’s continuing emphasis on strengthening security at strategic industrial and port installations while also focusing on training, technology adoption, coordination and the welfare of its personnel.
