Delhi Police Awarded Best Marching Contingent Among CAPFs at 2026 Republic Day Parade

New Delhi, January 28, 2026 – The Delhi Police has been recognized with the Best Marching Contingent award among the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and auxiliary forces during the Republic Day Parade 2026, held on January 26 at Kartavya Path. This notable accolade was announced by the Ministry of Defence, highlighting the contingent's remarkable discipline, synchronization, and presentation during the event.

The contingent, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Anant Dhanraj Singh, IPS, included one Assistant Commissioner of Police, three inspectors, 44 head constables, and 100 constables, all selected for their height of over six feet. Dressed in distinctive red safa uniforms, they showcased exceptional precision and composure, contributing to the parade's display of national unity and military excellence. This achievement marks the 18th time the Delhi Police has received this distinction, with consecutive victories in 2024 and 2025, underscoring their ongoing dedication to ceremonial excellence.

In the category for the three Armed Services, the Indian Navy claimed the title. The parade, which celebrated India's 77th Republic Day and the 150th anniversary of "Vande Mataram," featured tableaux that emphasized themes of self-reliance and cultural heritage. Among states and union territories, Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir, and Kerala achieved the top three positions for their tableaux displays, while the Ministry of Culture was awarded for central ministries.

A public poll conducted on the MyGov portal offered a different perspective, with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) receiving the top votes among CAPFs and auxiliary forces. Nonetheless, the judges awarded the Delhi Police for their superior performance, reaffirming their role not only in law enforcement but also in representing institutional pride on a national stage.
