Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh embarked on a three-day visit to the Leh Sector from June 5 to 7, 2026. The purpose of the visit was to evaluate operational readiness, assess border infrastructure development, and ensure logistical sustainability along India's northern borders.
During his stay, Singh engaged in comprehensive discussions with senior military commanders at the XIV Corps headquarters. The conversations centered on the current security environment, the state of operational preparedness, and ongoing initiatives to enhance infrastructure in key border regions.

Singh received briefings on strategies aimed at boosting troop mobility, improving logistical backing, and maintaining military operations in the high-altitude terrain of Eastern Ladakh.
As part of his itinerary, the Defence Secretary visited several forward locations in Eastern Ladakh, including Base Camp and the Northern Glacier area. There, he interacted with troops operating under some of the most challenging conditions worldwide.

Officials indicated that the visit served as a platform to evaluate the efficiency of logistical measures and infrastructure developments that aid troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
