Defence Secretary Reviews Infrastructure Advancements in Kumaon Sector with Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan

The Defence Secretary, Shri Rajesh Kr Singh, IAS, accompanied by Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan, Director General of Border Roads, conducted a visit to the Kumaon Sector to evaluate the swift advancement in infrastructure development in high-altitude border regions. This visit highlighted the government's concentrated efforts to enhance operational mobility, boost logistics efficiency, and fortify readiness in the challenging terrains of the Himalayan frontier.

During the assessment, the officials examined ongoing road construction, the progress of all-weather connectivity projects, and the expansion of logistics facilities that support the troops stationed in these areas. The efforts to develop modern roads, durable bridges, and upgraded infrastructure demonstrate a strong commitment to improving strategic mobility along crucial routes where the geography is complex and the climate challenging.

This infrastructure initiative not only strengthens border security but also plays a significant role in the socio-economic development of isolated Himalayan communities. Improved connectivity facilitates faster access to essential services, boosts local trade, and helps integrate border villages into the national framework.

The visit by the Defence Secretary and the Director General of Border Roads reinforced the country's commitment to constructing durable, future-ready infrastructure.
