Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh Reviews Operational Readiness of Surya Command in Lucknow

Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, IAS, met Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Surya Command, in Lucknow and reviewed the formation’s operational preparedness, logistics capabilities and overall strategic readiness.

The meeting focused on how Surya Command is maintaining sustained combat readiness while also ensuring that its logistics system can support troops effectively in changing operational conditions. According to the briefing, the command has adopted an integrated approach that links preparedness, force sustenance and logistics resilience, with particular attention to keeping formations and units ready to operate across a range of contingencies.

The Defence Secretary was briefed on the command’s ability to sustain combat readiness over time and to respond quickly and effectively to emerging operational challenges. The discussions also highlighted the role of resilient logistics and careful resource management in preserving military effectiveness, especially in prolonged or fast-moving situations where timely support can be decisive.

Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh was also informed about measures being taken to further strengthen the command’s preparedness and improve its ability to meet new requirements as they arise. The emphasis on readiness, adaptability and sustained support reflects the changing demands placed on military formations in modern operations.

The interaction in Lucknow reaffirmed Surya Command’s focus on maintaining a high level of operational preparedness while keeping essential logistics and support systems resilient and continuous.
