Decades-Old Love Letter from Ex-Army Officer Captures Hearts Online, Draws Response from India Post
A nostalgic moment has captured the attention of social media users after a former Army officer shared a handwritten love letter from decades ago. The video, posted by Captain Dharmveer Singh, has garnered over 1.2 million views, evoking strong emotions from India Post and sparking a wave of nostalgia online.
The letter, dated December 10, 2001, was penned by Singh’s then-girlfriend, now wife, affectionately referred to as Thakurain. Singh shared that it was the first letter he received at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai shortly after joining. Cadets at the time had to "earn" their letters through strenuous exercises, ranging from 100 to 500 push-ups, depending on the letter's length. This particular letter was notably lengthy, resulting in Singh performing 500 push-ups to obtain it.
Reflecting on those times, Singh remarked, “Those were good times for letters, when passion went into writing them and the feelings lasted just as long.”
