Commodore Aashish Sharma Assumes Command of INS Mandovi in Leadership Transition

On December 31, 2025, Commodore Aashish Sharma officially took over the leadership of INS Mandovi from Commodore R B Timmapurkar in a formal ceremony marking the change of command.

With expertise in Communications and Electronic Warfare, Commodore Aashish Sharma brings extensive operational and instructional experience. He is a graduate of the National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College, and the Naval War College.

Throughout his illustrious naval career, Commodore Sharma has occupied several significant command and staff roles. His previous positions include serving as the Commanding Officer of INS Konkan, Officer-in-Charge of the Signal School, Commanding Officer of INS Kattabomman, and holding important staff positions such as CPLO and CCO at the Headquarters Western Naval Command. Additionally, he served as Chief Staff Officer to the Flag Officer Karnataka & Naval Officer-in-Charge Karnataka, playing a vital role in operational planning and maritime communications.

Upon assuming his new role, Commodore Sharma expressed his dedication to maintaining the high standards of training, discipline, and professionalism for which INS Mandovi is renowned. This institution is a leading naval training center responsible for preparing future sailors of the Indian Navy.
