COAS General Upendra Dwivedi Awards Exceptional Veterans for Their Contributions to Nation-Building

During the Retiring Officers Seminar in New Delhi, the Chief of Army Staff, Upendra Dwivedi, presented the ‘Veteran Achievers Award’ to four distinguished veterans. These awards honor the significant contributions made by retired personnel in the areas of nation-building, social welfare, and youth empowerment, showcasing the continued service spirit among Indian Army veterans.

Several veterans were recognized for their outstanding achievements post-retirement. Colonel DP Dimri (Retd) was acknowledged for his efforts in youth empowerment, education, and rural development in Uttarakhand. His initiatives include establishing a library for underprivileged students and founding a coaching institute in Rudraprayag after the Kedarnath floods, providing both free and subsidized education.

Captain Reeta Rajkishor Biyani (Retd), a cancer survivor and Limca Record holder, was honored for her nationwide cancer awareness campaign, "Highways Infinite," which involves workshops and awareness drives reaching thousands across the country.

Subedar (Honorary Captain) Tsewang Norbo (Retd) was celebrated for promoting socio-economic development in remote areas through environmental projects, educational support, and mentoring youth to join the Armed Forces.

Subedar Bhaskar Parida (Retd) received recognition for his dedication to veteran welfare in Odisha, his efforts in environmental conservation, marine cleanliness, and ensuring respectful last rites for ex-servicemen.

General Dwivedi addressed the gathering, stating that service to the nation is a lifelong commitment and that veterans continue to make impactful contributions even after their retirement from active duty.

The awards serve as a testament to the Indian Army’s dedication to honoring individuals who persist in upholding the values of duty and service, inspiring both military personnel and civilians.
