COAS General Dhiraj Seth Reviews Southern Command’s Operational Preparedness in Pune

Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth visited Headquarters Southern Command to assess the formation’s operational preparedness and review the initiatives underway to strengthen its combat capability.

During the visit, General Seth was briefed by Lieutenant General Rajesh Pushkar, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, on the prevailing operational environment, the command’s readiness posture, training measures and the steps being taken to improve overall combat effectiveness.

The Army Chief used the occasion to stress that the force must remain ready for a battlefield environment that is changing quickly. He called for sustained operational readiness and greater adaptability, along with continuous refinement of Techniques, Tactics and Procedures (TTPs). He also urged the Army to absorb emerging technologies more rapidly so that its capabilities remain aligned with present and future operational demands.

General Seth placed particular emphasis on training, saying troops must be prepared through realistic and rigorous exercises that reflect complex operational contingencies. He also highlighted the need for greater jointness and integration across the force, and for faster development of indigenous capabilities, describing these as essential to building an agile, technologically empowered and future-ready Indian Army.

He also commended all ranks of Southern Command for their professionalism, dedication and focus on operational preparedness. At the same time, he exhorted personnel to remain mission-focused and to continue working toward preserving the command’s operational edge.

The visit reflected the Indian Army’s continuing focus on capability enhancement, technology-enabled operations, realistic training and self-reliance as central elements of combat readiness.
