Civilian Staff Member Discovered Dead at National Defence Academy, Police Probe Commences

A civilian staff member at the National Defence Academy has been discovered deceased in what police have described as an unnatural death. The incident was reported on January 8, according to officials.

The individual, identified as Mayur Pawar, aged 31, served as a cadet orderly and was employed at the NDA as Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS). Initial reports suggest Pawar was found unresponsive around 5:45 pm inside a furniture store within the NDA premises while on duty with a squadron.

Following the alert, personnel from Uttamnagar Police Station arrived at the location to commence an investigation. Pawar, who resided in Lamanwadi, Khadakwasla, had been associated with the NDA for almost 11 years.

Authorities reported finding a note at the scene indicating that Pawar was experiencing financial difficulties. The note purportedly stated that no one should be blamed for his death. An investigation is ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the incident.

Pawar's family has been notified, and his body was sent to Sassoon General Hospital in Pune for a post-mortem examination, following protocol.

The Commandant and staff of the NDA have issued a statement expressing their profound condolences, assuring their support to the bereaved family. The Academy has pledged to collaborate fully with civil authorities and provide assistance to the family during this challenging period.
