Chinese-Made Rifle Scope Discovered Near NIA Office in Jammu; Heightened Security Measures in Place
On Sunday, security forces in Jammu heightened their alertness following the discovery of a Chinese-manufactured rifle telescope near the National Investigation Agency (NIA) office in the city by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Officials reported that the telescope, which features Chinese markings and is typically used with assault and sniper rifles, was found in a dense area of wild vegetation located between the NIA office and the Jammu and Kashmir Police Security Headquarters. The area is also in close proximity to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) battalion headquarters.
Although senior police personnel who arrived at the location chose not to issue formal statements, security sources indicated that the finding of a Chinese telescope near four significant security establishments has caused considerable alarm. This incident occurs amid increased security measures following intelligence reports suggesting potential infiltration attempts under the cover of fog from across the border.
In response to these concerns, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with other security forces, have been conducting joint search and area control operations over the past four days. These operations extend from areas near the International Border (IB) to the mountainous regions along the Line of Control (LoC) to thwart any infiltration attempts.
The operations were initiated after intelligence agencies alerted to possible renewed infiltration efforts, coinciding with a sudden rise in terrorist activities at launch pads across the border, particularly near the districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, and Rajouri.
Sources highlighted that a senior Border Security Force (BSF) official had noted last month that approximately seven months after Pakistan's terror infrastructure suffered heavy damage during Operation Sindoor, around 72 terror launch pads have been reactivated opposite Jammu province.
The official elaborated that 12 of these launch pads are operational in the Sialkot and Zafarwal sectors near the International Border, while approximately 60 are active across the Line of Control, presenting a renewed security threat.
Security agencies are persistently maintaining heightened vigilance and intensifying their operations to prevent any breach of India's borders and to safeguard critical facilities from potential threats.
