Chief of Army Staff General Dwivedi Engages in High-Level Pentagon Talks to Enhance India–US Defence Cooperation

General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of the Army Staff, engaged in significant discussions with top US military officials during his official visit to the Pentagon. These talks aimed to enhance the defense cooperation between India and the United States.

From April 20 to 23, General Dwivedi held meetings with notable figures including Daniel P Driscoll, Christopher LaNeve, Elbridge Colby, and Steven S Nordhaus.

The discussions were centered on a variety of topics such as broadening bilateral defense cooperation, improving military-to-military interactions, exploring training collaboration and joint operations, as well as advancing capability development and modernization.

Both parties underscored the importance of interoperability among their armed forces, enhancing joint operational capabilities, and tackling emerging global security challenges.

These engagements also introduced a strategic dimension by discussing defense policy coordination, institutional partnerships, and identifying future avenues for cooperation.

The visit is indicative of the increasing alignment between India and the United States in ensuring regional stability, building advanced military capabilities, and strengthening long-term defense relations.
