Change of Guard Ceremony Temporarily Suspended at Rashtrapati Bhavan for Jubilee Preparations

The Rashtrapati Bhavan has announced the suspension of the ceremonial Change of Guard on September 13, 20, and 27, 2025. This weekly military tradition is on hold as the President’s Bodyguard gears up for a special diamond jubilee event.

As stated in an official release, the Ceremonial Battalion will be busy with rehearsals for the presentation of the Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner to the President’s Bodyguard. This prestigious event is set to occur at the Forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan, with further ceremonial details to be shared later.

Traditionally held every Saturday, the Change of Guard ceremony involves a new contingent of the President’s Bodyguard assuming duties. Lasting approximately 90 minutes, it remains a popular attraction for visitors to Rashtrapati Bhavan.

This year, attention will be centered on the diamond jubilee presentation of the Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner—emblems of honor and service—officially handed over by the President of India to the President’s Bodyguard. The event will also feature an audio-visual presentation, detailing the tradition's history and the evolving role of the President’s Bodyguard.

Following the conclusion of the presentation and rehearsals, the Change of Guard ceremony is expected to resume.
