CDS General Chauhan Highlights Psychological Impact of India's Precision Strikes on Pakistan in May
Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan has stated that India's long-range precision strikes during the May cross-border incidents had a profound psychological effect on Pakistan, highlighting a pivotal moment in modern warfare. Speaking at the first Annual Trident Lecture Series, hosted by the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies, he confirmed that Operation Sindoor is ongoing. He emphasized the importance of swift, targeted actions in defining future military conflicts.
General Chauhan addressed the evolving nature of warfare, noting that contemporary conflicts are not focused on territorial acquisition or capturing prisoners. He explained that the strikes targeted specific objectives with precision, causing limited physical damage but considerable psychological impact. This capability demonstrated India's advanced military sophistication and superiority in executing deep precision strikes.
He described this shift as "the matrix of victory," highlighting that military success is now measured by the impact and effects rather than territorial gains. "It has nothing to do with territory. This is how domination is changing," he asserted, indicating that India's strategy is consistent with global trends toward brief, intense military operations.
Furthermore, General Chauhan mentioned the government's "new norms" for defense, urging the armed forces to maintain a high level of operational readiness at all times. Such readiness is crucial for deterring and swiftly addressing emerging threats, he explained.
Delivering a stern warning to Pakistan, General Chauhan declared that cross-border terrorism would be met with decisive action. He asserted that militants should not expect to find safe havens across the border, reinforcing India's commitment to proactive and precise military responses to protect national security.
