CDM Hosts Advanced Research Methodology Programme for Indian Armed Forces Officers

The College of Defence Management (CDM), part of the Integrated Defence Staff (IDS), successfully hosted a Management Development Programme (MDP) focusing on Research Methodology from November 17 to 22, 2025. This week-long event was attended by 29 mid-level officers from the Indian Armed Forces.

The programme aimed to enhance the analytical skills of the participants by introducing them to modern research concepts, tools, and methodologies crucial for contemporary military leadership.

Officials from CDM noted that the curriculum was tailored to assist officers in implementing evidence-based decision-making frameworks, which are essential for tackling today's complex operational and organisational issues.

The programme included interactive workshops, case studies, and project-based learning, enabling officers to apply scientific research methods to practical situations within the defence sector. Sessions covered both qualitative and quantitative research techniques, data analysis tools, and structured problem-solving frameworks pertinent to joint-service scenarios.

This initiative underscores CDM’s ongoing dedication to enhancing professional military education and providing officers with the intellectual resources required for informed planning, operations, and policy-making.
