Caracal and Icomm Tele Awarded Contract to Deliver 200 CSR 338 Sniper Rifles to CRPF

UAE-based Caracal, part of the EDGE Group, has secured a contract to deliver 200 CSR 338 sniper rifles to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in collaboration with Icomm Tele, a branch of Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd. (MEIL).

The rifles will be manufactured and distributed from the newly established Icomm–Caracal Small Arms Complex in Hyderabad, a crucial facility for the production of advanced weaponry intended for the Indian Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces, and international export markets.

The first batch of CSR 338 rifles, made in India, is scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2025. The CSR 338 is a high-performance bolt-action sniper rifle chambered for the .338 Lapua Magnum. It includes features such as a 27-inch barrel, a 10-round magazine, ambidextrous controls, a two-stage adjustable trigger, and a four-position telescopic foldable stock.

Hamad Alameri, CEO of Caracal, stated, “This historic transfer of technology marks a significant milestone in UAE-India defence collaboration and reflects our strong commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Make in India initiative.”

Sumanth Paturu, Director of Icomm Tele, remarked, “Together with Caracal and EDGE, we are not only supplying CRPF with the most advanced CSR 338 sniper system but also strengthening India’s defence ecosystem by transferring world-class technology and creating high-quality manufacturing jobs in Hyderabad.”

This contract highlights India's increasing focus on domestic defence production and international partnerships to boost the nation's security and self-reliance in key military technologies.
