Air Marshal Tejinder Singh Takes Over as Chief of Integrated Defence Staff

On July 1, 2026, Air Marshal Tejinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VM, officially took on the role of Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC) at the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS).

To commemorate the occasion, Air Marshal Singh honored India's fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi.

Air Marshal Tejinder Singh, a seasoned fighter pilot, was commissioned into the Indian Air Force in June 1987. Over his career, he accumulated more than 4,500 flying hours and held command of a Fighter Squadron, a Radar Station, a major Fighter Base, and served as the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) in Jammu & Kashmir.

His career also includes several significant staff roles, such as Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations – Offensive), Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations – Strategy), Senior Air Staff Officer at the Eastern Air Command, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff, and Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Training Command.

Prior to his current role, Air Marshal Singh served as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the South Western Air Command, where he contributed significantly to enhancing operational readiness and combat capabilities.

His new position as Chief of Integrated Defence Staff is anticipated to bolster joint operations, integration, and coordination among the Armed Forces, thereby strengthening India's theatre command and joint warfare capabilities.
