BSF Promotes Three Commandants to DIG Rank at New Delhi Ceremony
The Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF), Praveen Kumar, IPS, officiated a ceremony on August 3, 2026, at the Force Headquarters in New Delhi, where three senior officers were elevated to the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG).
Shri Satish Kumar Shashtri, Shri Amar Bir Singh, and Shri Pramendra Kumar were promoted from their previous positions as Commandants. The rank-pinning ceremony saw these officers receiving their new insignia from the Director General.
The event was attended by senior BSF personnel and the family members of the officers, marking a significant advancement in their careers as they assume more substantial leadership roles within the force.
The promotion to DIG involves overseeing major formations, coordinating deployments, and executing organizational policies. Depending on their assigned roles, they may serve at sector headquarters, training centers, specialized units, or the Force Headquarters.
