BRO Project BEACON Briefs J&K LG Manoj Sinha on Strategic Road Infrastructure Work
Brigadier Chirag Ghura, Chief Engineer of Project BEACON, met Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on August 18, 2026, in a discussion that centred on the Border Roads Organisation’s ongoing road-building and maintenance work across the Union Territory.
Brig Ghura was accompanied by Brig S Deepak, Chief Engineer (Designate), during the call on the Lieutenant Governor. According to the information shared during the interaction, the BRO officers briefed Sinha on the scale of infrastructure activity currently under way in Jammu and Kashmir, including roads being constructed, upgraded and maintained by the organisation.
The briefing placed particular emphasis on strategic connectivity, especially in areas that are difficult to access but are considered important from an operational perspective. The officers outlined how the ongoing road projects are intended to improve movement and access in these challenging regions.
Project BEACON, one of the Border Roads Organisation’s key formations in the region, has been carrying out infrastructure works designed to support the movement requirements linked to Jammu and Kashmir’s strategic environment. The meeting highlighted both the construction of new connectivity corridors and the upkeep of existing roads as part of that effort.
The discussion also underlined the need to maintain and upgrade current infrastructure even as new links are developed. Improving accessibility across the Union Territory remains a central objective of the work being executed by the BRO, particularly in areas where connectivity is limited or exposed to difficult terrain and operating conditions.
