BEML Limited, a state-owned enterprise specializing in defence and heavy equipment, has received a significant order valued at ₹294 crore from the Ministry of Defence. This contract involves the supply of 150 high-mobility vehicles (HMVs), marking a substantial advancement for the Make in India initiative aimed at boosting indigenous defence manufacturing.

The 6x6 high-mobility vehicles are engineered to operate effectively in extreme terrains, at high altitudes, and under adverse weather conditions, ensuring reliability and versatility. The majority of the production will take place at BEML's facilities located in Palakkad and Mysore, with additional support from other divisions as required by operational demands.

BEML Chairman and Managing Director Shantanu Roy stated, “This order underscores our proficiency and capability in delivering cutting-edge indigenous products that strengthen India’s defence infrastructure. It also reaffirms our commitment to the Make in India initiative and our dedication to equipping the armed forces with high-quality, locally developed solutions.”

As an entity operating under the Ministry of Defence, BEML is involved in various sectors, including defence and aerospace, rail and metro, as well as construction and mining. This recent order further consolidates its involvement in enhancing India’s self-sufficiency in essential defence systems.
