Army Soldier Fatally Stabbed on Train After Dispute Over Bedsheet; Attendant Arrested

An Army soldier was fatally stabbed during an altercation over a bedsheet on the Bikaner–Jammu Tawi Sabarmati Express. The victim, Jignesh Chaudhary, was stationed in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir.

Reports indicate that the confrontation began when Chaudhary requested a bedsheet from a train attendant. The disagreement intensified rapidly, resulting in the attendant, identified as Zubair Memon, allegedly attacking Chaudhary with a knife in the AC coach. The attack left Chaudhary with a leg wound that caused substantial bleeding, ultimately leading to his death.

The incident occurred on Sunday night while the train was in transit. The Bikaner Railway Police have apprehended the suspect and are conducting an investigation into the murder.

Officials revealed that Chaudhary had boarded the train at Firozpur Cantt, intending to return to his home in Sabarmati, Gujarat, after completing his duties in Udhampur.

Earlier this year, a comparable tragedy unfolded when 27-year-old soldier Vikrant Gurjar from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, was shot dead while on leave to testify in a murder case.

The recent stabbing has provoked outrage and sorrow, drawing attention to the safety and discipline concerns aboard passenger trains, particularly those involving military personnel.
