Army Recognizes Four Retired Heroes with Veteran Achievers Award for Post-Service Contributions

General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of the Army Staff, bestowed the esteemed Veteran Achievers Award upon four notable former servicemen at the Bathinda Military Station. This accolade acknowledges their remarkable efforts in serving the nation even after their retirement from active duty.

The award honors those veterans who continue to contribute to the country in significant and unique ways, demonstrating an enduring commitment to service beyond their military careers.

The Awardees and Their Contributions

Col Satpal Rai Gabba (Retd) served as the Chairman of the Ex-Servicemen Union in Abohar. He played a pivotal role during Operation SINDOOR by volunteering for the security of rear areas. He coordinated efforts with the local truck union to arrange transport and equipment and rallied volunteers to enhance the defense preparedness of the formation.

Lt Col Jagjit Singh Maan (Retd) is a committed environmentalist and an active member of the Tree Lovers Society. He has led afforestation initiatives at Bathinda Military Station, facilitating the planting of over 50,000 saplings under the Arboriculture Plan, significantly improving the station's green cover.

Craftsman Banwari Lal Swami (Retd), along with his son who is a doctor, provided free medical services to troops stationed in forward areas and their families at Fazilka Military Station. His efforts were particularly inspirational during Operation SINDOOR.

Sub Maj (Hony Capt) Sis Ram (Retd) supported the Indian Army during Operation SINDOOR by coordinating and harnessing civil resources to ensure effective logistics support at Rajgarh, thereby enhancing the formation's operational readiness.

Honouring Service Beyond the Battlefield

The Veteran Achievers Award highlights the Indian Army's appreciation for those who continue to make meaningful contributions to the nation after retirement. These veterans exemplify that the sense of duty extends beyond wearing the uniform.
