Army Jawan Satyaveer Singh Killed in Mathura Hit-and-Run, Cremated With State Honours

Mathura: An Army jawan posted in Jodhpur, identified as 34-year-old Satyaveer Singh of Jhudawai village, died after a hit-and-run incident on Saturday evening while he was returning home from the market. Police have not identified the vehicle or named any suspect in the case.

Singh had come home on a five-day leave on Thursday. On Saturday evening, at the request of his wife, Sarita, he went on his motorcycle to Farah market to buy household items. Around 7 pm, while he was riding back to his village, an unidentified vehicle hit his motorcycle near Parkham village and sped away, leaving him severely injured on the road.

Villagers who recognised him rushed him to the Military Hospital. Doctors there declared him dead on Sunday morning at around 10 am. His body was later cremated with state honours on Sunday evening at about 7 pm.

Singh had been married to Sarita for about 14 years. The couple had three daughters — Bhumi, 11, Ruchi, 9, and Arushi, 4. Family members and villagers were left devastated by the accident, and Sarita collapsed several times during the funeral before being supported by relatives. The village remained in mourning after the soldier’s death.

The report does not mention Singh’s unit or rank beyond noting that he was posted at Jodhpur.
