Army Dog Tyson Leads to Successful Neutralisation of Jaish Terrorists in Kashmir Despite Being Shot
In a notable act of bravery, Tyson, an elite Army dog from the 2 Para (Special Forces), played a crucial role in uncovering a terrorist hideout in the Chhatroo area of Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir. This effort led to the elimination of three Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists.
During a coordinated operation involving the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force, Tyson, a German Shepherd, crawled into a hidden location nestled in the rugged terrain of Chhatroo. This courageous move prompted the terrorists to open fire, resulting in Tyson sustaining a leg injury. Nevertheless, the canine pressed on, enabling the forces to accurately pinpoint the enemy's position and effectively neutralize them.
Among those neutralized was Saifullah, a Jaish-e-Mohammed member who had managed to evade capture in the area for nearly two years. Security personnel recovered two AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and other military supplies from the scene.
Post-operation, Tyson was airlifted for specialized medical care and is currently in a stable condition. Officials emphasized that Tyson's actions were pivotal in the successful conclusion of a prolonged manhunt, alleviating the fears of local residents who had been living under the shadow of terrorism.
The mission was part of Operation Trashi-I, an ongoing counter-terror initiative launched in January aimed at dismantling militant networks in the forested and mountainous regions of Kishtwar, including Chhatroo, Sonnar, Dolgam, and Dichhar. Tyson's valor highlights the indispensable role that trained Army dogs play in counter-terrorism operations, where their instincts and bravery often determine the mission's outcome.
