Anish Dayal Singh Appointed as New Deputy National Security Adviser

The Indian government has appointed Anish Dayal Singh, a retired senior IPS officer, as the country's new Deputy National Security Adviser (Dy NSA). Singh, who was part of the 1988 batch from the Manipur cadre, previously held positions as the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) prior to his retirement in December 2024.

In his new role, Singh will collaborate closely with NSA Ajit Doval, providing strategic advice on various national security issues. He will manage internal security challenges, particularly those concerning Jammu and Kashmir, Left-Wing Extremism, and insurgency in the Northeast.

Singh brings over 30 years of experience in counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations to the position. His appointment is considered a significant move to bolster India's security structure, with his expertise anticipated to be vital as the nation contends with evolving threats from terrorism, insurgency, and cyber vulnerabilities.

Additionally, Singh will coordinate with other major security agencies, such as the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW), to ensure comprehensive integration of intelligence and security efforts across various domains.

According to officials, Singh's leadership and field experience will be crucial in fortifying India's national security framework, with his efforts expected to have a lasting influence on the country's security policies.
