Amit Shah Commends Security Forces for 'Operation Mahadev' Success, Emphasizes Nation's Resolve Against Terror

On Wednesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah recognized the efforts of the armed forces, paramilitary, and Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel who played key roles in the successful execution of ‘Operation Mahadev’. This mission led to the neutralization of the three Pakistan-backed terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam massacre on April 22.

The Home Minister commended the personnel for their "extraordinary bravery" and remarked that the operation brought a sense of closure to the families of those who lost their lives during the brutal attack at Baisaran meadows in Pahalgam.

On April 22, the terrorists targeted tourists based on religious identity, resulting in the deaths of 26 individuals, including 25 Hindus and a local Muslim pony operator. A tourist from Nepal was also among the victims.

Throughout the three-month-long Operation Mahadev, security forces successfully tracked and eliminated all individuals responsible for the massacre. Shah stated that forensic evidence and investigations substantiated that the neutralized terrorists were indeed the culprits of the killings.

During a special ceremony, Amit Shah personally honored the soldiers, CRPF commandos, and J&K Police personnel with mementoes and shawls, lauding their courage and commitment. The personnel also shared their experiences and the challenges they encountered during the mission with the Home Minister.

Shah further highlighted that Operations Sindoor and Mahadev issued a stern warning to Pakistan and terrorist groups about the repercussions of targeting Indian citizens. Operation Sindoor, carried out from May 6 to 10, targeted terror bases across Pakistan, while Operation Mahadev concluded in July with the elimination of the attackers in Pahalgam.

“Both these operations stand as testimony to India’s resolve to safeguard its citizens and punish perpetrators of terror,” Shah stated.
