Air Marshal Tarun Chaudhry Reviews Operational Readiness, Project Gajraj at Sonegaon and Raipur

Air Marshal Tarun Chaudhry, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Central Air Command, recently visited Air Force Station Sonegaon and Raipur with Mrs Savita Chaudhry, President, AFFWA (Regional), to review operational preparedness, infrastructure development and welfare-related work at the two locations.

The visit placed particular focus on Air Force Station Sonegaon, where the Air Marshal carried out a detailed assessment of operational readiness, ongoing work services and the station’s existing infrastructure. The review examined how prepared the station is to meet operational requirements, along with the way available resources are being used to support day-to-day functioning and mission efficiency.

As part of the inspection, Air Marshal Chaudhry also reviewed the progress of Project Gajraj, a greenfield Air Force Station being developed at MIHAN. The project is intended to strengthen aviation infrastructure in the region and expand the Indian Air Force’s operational capabilities.

During his interaction with personnel across all ranks, the AOC-in-C praised their morale, professionalism and commitment to duty. He also emphasised the need to remain focused on force preservation and the optimal use of resources while continuing to maintain operational effectiveness.

In a separate engagement, Air Marshal Chaudhry met Shri Vikas Sheel, IAS, Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh, to further civil-military liaison and coordination. The meeting provided a forum to discuss matters of mutual interest and to reinforce cooperation between the Indian Air Force and the civil administration.

Mrs Savita Chaudhry, in her capacity as President of AFFWA (Regional), also reviewed a range of welfare initiatives during the visit. She interacted with the Sanginis and acknowledged their contribution to the welfare ecosystem and to the support network for Air Force families.

The visit offered a consolidated review of operational preparedness, infrastructure development and personnel welfare, while also highlighting the importance of efficient resource management and strong coordination with the civil administration.

Through the engagements at Sonegaon and with the ongoing work on Project Gajraj, Central Air Command’s leadership underlined its continuing emphasis on high operational standards, infrastructure strengthening and maintaining a motivated, future-ready force.
