Air Chief Marshal AP Singh Highlights Decision Autonomy at Southern Air Command Conference
On 16 February 2026, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), made a significant visit to the Southern Air Command (SAC) headquarters to participate in the Annual SAC Commanders’ Conference. Upon arrival, he was welcomed by Air Marshal Manish Khanna, the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Air Command, and received a ceremonial Guard of Honour.

Throughout his visit, Air Chief Marshal Singh was briefed on several crucial aspects, including the key initiatives, operational readiness, air defence preparedness in the southern region, and the Indian Air Force's ongoing efforts to enhance its capabilities in the Indian Ocean Region. These discussions highlighted the vital role played by the SAC in protecting India's southern airspace and supporting maritime security goals.

The conference centered around the theme “Operational Efficiency through Decision Autonomy,” reflecting the Indian Air Force's strategy of adapting to modern warfare through decentralised leadership and empowered command structures. During his interactions with field commanders from various SAC stations, the CAS stressed the importance of decentralised decision-making for ensuring rapid responses, mission success, and maintaining an operational advantage in a changing security landscape.

Air Chief Marshal Singh emphasized that trust, accountability, and clarity of intent are crucial for commanders to exercise autonomy while staying aligned with strategic goals. He encouraged commanders to promote innovation, optimise resources, and enhance joint operations, reaffirming the Indian Air Force's dedication to being a potent, agile, and future-ready aerospace power.
