Dr Kiran Bedi Commends NDA’s Light and Sound Show, Proposes Similar Event for Police Academy
Dr Kiran Bedi, IPS (Retd.), who formerly served as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, attended the Convocation Ceremony for the 150th Course of the National Defence Academy (NDA) as the Chief Guest. She praised the academy's traditions and the rigorous training ethos it upholds, particularly highlighting the Light and Sound Show as an outstanding experience.
Reflecting on the event at NDA in Khadakwasla, Dr Bedi described the 45-minute Light and Sound Show held on the eve of the convocation as a memorable experience. The show, which was attended by cadets and their families, illustrated the rich history, military traditions, and values of the academy.
Dr Bedi found the initiative inspiring and proposed that a similar programme could be implemented at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy ahead of the Passing Out Parade for IPS officer trainees.
She also emphasized various practices at the NDA that help in developing disciplined and devoted military leaders. Among these practices is the daily reaffirmation of service values and institutional mottos by cadets, which strengthens their sense of purpose, dedication, and commitment to serving the nation selflessly.
According to Dr Bedi, such traditions are crucial in instilling discipline, leadership qualities, and national service values in future officers.
Her remarks were made during the celebrations marking the NDA's milestone 150th Course, which culminated in the convocation and passing out ceremonies attended by senior military officials, distinguished guests, and the families of the graduating cadets.
Dr Bedi's comments highlighted the NDA's enduring status as one of India's leading military institutions, renowned for cultivating future leaders of the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force through a unique combination of academic excellence, military training, and character development.
