A&N Police Honors DGP H.S. Dhaliwal with Ceremonial Farewell Parade as He Transfers to Delhi
The Andaman and Nicobar Police today bid farewell to Shri H.S. Dhaliwal, IPS, the Director General of Police for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, in a ceremonial parade at the Police Lines Parade Ground. This event marked the end of his tenure of over 21 months, following his transfer to Delhi.
The ceremony was conducted with a sense of pride and honor, reflecting the police fraternity's appreciation for his leadership and contributions to enhancing policing throughout the Union Territory. Senior officers and personnel of the A&N Police attended to pay tribute to his service, guidance, and dedication to the force.
Shri Dhaliwal's tenure as DGP was marked by key initiatives aimed at improving crime control, bolstering anti-narcotics efforts, modernizing police infrastructure, enhancing personnel welfare, and promoting community-oriented policing. His leadership emphasized transparent, people-friendly approaches and increased operational efficiency.
Among the notable achievements during his time was the introduction of significant welfare measures for police personnel, including granting two promotional upgrades after 15 and 25 years of service, reducing the Look-Out Post guard tenure, and enhancing welfare infrastructure for officers across the Islands.
Under his leadership, the A&N Police also saw the first-ever implementation of solar power systems at all Look-Out Posts, aiming to improve working conditions and operational sustainability in remote areas. This initiative was particularly significant given the geographical challenges and strategic importance of the Islands.
His tenure also focused on enhancing anti-narcotics enforcement and crime prevention, with increased efforts to ensure the safety and security of residents. His approach integrated strict law enforcement with public outreach, reinforcing the role of police as both an enforcement body and a community partner.
