19-Year-Old Aspiring Soldier from Rajasthan Saves Lives Through Organ Donation After Fatal Accident

A 19-year-old from Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan has posthumously saved several lives through organ donation after succumbing to injuries from a road accident. The family of the young man, who had dreams of joining the military, decided to donate his organs following his untimely death.

The individual, named Jigyanshu, hailed from Rasoolpur Aheeran village and was pronounced brain-dead at Santokba Durlabji Memorial Hospital (SDMH) in Jaipur due to severe head trauma sustained in the accident.

Jigyanshu, the son of farmer Dalip Singh, had recently completed his secondary education and was preparing for a career in the Indian Army, a dream he cherished throughout his life, according to his family.

The tragic incident took place on the night of May 23, near the Pacheribadi area, while he was on his motorcycle heading to an ATM to withdraw cash. Initially, he received treatment at a hospital in Narnaul, but as his condition worsened, he was transferred to Jaipur.

Despite extensive efforts by medical professionals at SDMH, they were unable to save him. However, after discussions with the medical team, his family chose to donate his organs, transforming their grief into hope for other patients.

On Thursday morning, authorities in Jaipur facilitated a green corridor to quickly transport Jigyanshu's liver from SDMH to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Jodhpur for a transplant. Additionally, a kidney transplant was successfully performed at SDMH.

Officials reported that the organ retrieval and transplantation were coordinated through the combined efforts of the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO), Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation North (ROTTO North), AIIMS Jodhpur, SMS Medical College, and SDMH.

Medical professionals and officials commended the family’s generous decision, emphasizing that the young man's final act of donating his organs was a testament to his commitment to service and humanity.
