Video footage has emerged showing the Indian Air Force AN-32 transport aircraft crash, capturing crucial moments of the incident at the Jorhat Air Force Station in Assam on June 13, 2026. The clips, widely shared on news outlets and social media, show the aircraft during its landing attempt before it deviated from its path, leading to a crash and fire that resulted in the deaths of five individuals.

Reports indicate that the AN-32 was on a routine sortie at around 10:00 a.m. local time when the accident took place. CCTV and ground footage reportedly reveal the plane making initial contact with the runway. The landing initially seemed standard; however, the aircraft soon veered left, lost control, and crashed within the airbase. Additional images from the site show dense smoke emanating from the wreckage, with emergency and fire-fighting teams quickly responding to the situation.

The Indian Air Force has confirmed the fatalities of five personnel on board. The victims have been named as:

Squadron Leader Prashant Singh
Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar
Sergeant Jitendra Sharma
Agniveervayu Khemaram Kumawat
Agniveervayu Danish Alam

The co-pilot survived the crash but sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing medical treatment.

In an official statement, the Indian Air Force expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of life and announced that a Court of Inquiry has been instituted to ascertain the exact cause of the incident. The IAF stated, “Crash site management and initial enquiries are on at this time.” The aircraft crashed within the Air Force Station's boundaries, and firefighting teams acted swiftly to control the fire.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and senior leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, have extended their sympathies to the grieving families and honored the sacrifice of the personnel. The nation mourns the loss of these committed servicemen who perished in the line of duty.

The Antonov AN-32 is a twin-engine turboprop transport aircraft, pivotal to the Indian Air Force’s tactical airlift operations. The IAF operates a large fleet of these aircraft, which are favored for their ability to take off and land in difficult terrains and at high altitudes.

The incident is currently under thorough investigation. Authorities have warned against speculation on potential factors, like weather or technical issues, until the Court of Inquiry concludes its findings. Support is being provided to the families of the deceased.

The release of the video has highlighted the abrupt and tragic nature of the crash, leading to widespread reflection on aviation safety within the military. The Indian Air Force continues its operational duties while prioritizing the welfare of its personnel and their families during this challenging time.

As more information becomes available from the investigation, efforts remain focused on honoring the memory of the deceased and providing support to those impacted by this unfortunate event.
