Vice Admiral Sanjay Bhalla Reviews Independence Day Parade at Visakhapatnam, Hails Eastern Naval Command Readiness
Vice Admiral Sanjay Bhalla, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command, reviewed the ceremonial parade at Visakhapatnam on the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day and addressed naval personnel assembled for the celebrations.
In his address, Vice Admiral Bhalla paid tribute to the freedom fighters and all others who contributed to India’s struggle for independence, describing their sacrifices as central to the nation’s journey. He also linked the significance of Independence Day to the continuing duty of the Armed Forces in protecting India’s sovereignty and security.
The senior naval officer used the occasion to place the Eastern Naval Command’s work within the broader national goal of Viksit Bharat 2047. He said the Indian Navy, and the Eastern Naval Command in particular, have an important role to play in helping India move towards that vision.
Vice Admiral Bhalla praised the Command for sustaining a high operational tempo and maintaining combat readiness. He stressed the need for constant vigilance and preparedness to safeguard India’s maritime interests and ensure maritime security.
He also noted the strengthening of coastal security measures under the Command, saying the Eastern Naval Command has continued to focus on coordination and preparedness to respond effectively to emerging maritime security challenges.
Highlighting the Navy’s wider responsibilities beyond combat operations, the FOC-in-C pointed to the Command’s contribution to Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief operations. He said these efforts reflect the Indian Navy’s role in providing timely support to communities during natural disasters and other emergencies.
Vice Admiral Bhalla further appreciated ongoing efforts to strengthen India’s maritime capabilities through operational preparedness, training and capability enhancement. His remarks placed equal emphasis on readiness at sea, skill development and the steady improvement of operational capacity.
He also commended the naval personnel for their smart turnout, precise drill and professionalism during the ceremonial parade at Visakhapatnam. According to him, their discipline and commitment reflected the standards expected of the Indian Navy.
Concluding his address, Vice Admiral Bhalla urged all personnel to remain ever-ready, resolute and unwavering in their service to the nation. He called on them to continue performing their duties with dedication and professionalism while contributing to India’s maritime security and national development.
