Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan Briefs Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis on Maritime Security and Coastal Defence

Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command, met with Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, today.

In their discussions, Vice Admiral Swaminathan informed the Chief Minister about the current maritime security conditions along the western coast. He emphasized the Western Naval Command's state of operational readiness. The conversation also focused on enhancing coastal defense mechanisms for the Maharashtra coastline, an area of significant importance due to its role in trade, energy infrastructure, and national security.

Chief Minister Fadnavis expressed his gratitude for the Indian Navy's crucial contribution to maintaining maritime security and protecting offshore assets. He also acknowledged the Navy's collaborative efforts with state agencies to bolster coastal surveillance.

Based in Mumbai, the Western Naval Command is the Indian Navy’s primary operational command responsible for the security of the Arabian Sea and western coast of India. The meeting underscored the importance of strong civil-military cooperation in securing essential maritime routes and ensuring the protection of coastal communities.
