Uttarakhand Governor and Major General Manish Kumar Discuss Agniveer Recruitment Strategies
Major General Manish Kumar, YSM, SM**, serving as the Additional Director General of Recruiting Zone for Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, met with Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd), the Governor of Uttarakhand, on May 13, 2026, at Lok Bhawan in Dehradun.
The meeting focused on discussing the main objectives, responsibilities, and operations of the Recruiting Zone, along with significant systemic improvements being implemented to recruit young individuals into the Indian Army through the Agniveer scheme.

Maj Gen Kumar provided the Governor with details on the organisational framework of the ZRO for Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, which is noted for contributing the highest number of Agniveers to the Army.
The Governor commended the strong initiatives and extensive outreach programs designed to inspire young people to join the Armed Forces as Agniveers and contribute to national service.
The Additional Director General also emphasized the Army's dedication to maintaining transparency, fairness, and efficiency in conducting recruitment rallies and selection processes.
Lt Gen Gurmit Singh pledged full support and encouragement for future initiatives by the Recruiting Zone aimed at enlisting capable and motivated youth to serve in the Indian Army.
